Painface is an American death metal band that originally formed in 1992 in Des Moines, Iowa. The original line-up was singer Anders Colsefini, guitarist Patrick Neuwrith, bassist Paul Gray, and drummer Shawn Crahan, who eventually went on to form Slipknot in 1995. After Colsefini left Slipknot in 1997, he reformed Painface with different members. The band split up in 2001 and reunited again in 2008.

Painface was formed in 1992 by Colsefini, Gray, Crahan (all later of Slipknot), and guitarist Patrick Neuwrith. The band recorded a demo called The Basement Sessions, which featured two songs, "Gently" and "Slipknot," which later appeared on Slipknot's debut, Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. The band split up later in the year, apparently due to Crahan becoming busy with work.

After Colsefini left Slipknot, he again used the name Painface for a new band he was forming. The new Painface released an EP, On a Pale Horse, in 2000, as well as their first and only full-length album, FleshCraft. In 2001, the band split up.
